I had a tour around the building last year, a couple of weeks before it reopened as the St Pancras Renaissance London Hotel. I was interested to see a couple of cantilever stone staircases that I’d never seen before. They are all detailed in the same “Gothick” style as the main staircase. This one has no rebates between treads. The baluster supports are integral to the treads.
The building originally opened in 1873 and was designed by George Gilbert Scott.
